about

This song was written when I was thinking about how underrated Dublin is as a city of romance, It's rarely the setting for them in the movies but when it is it shines (see Once). It may not have the prestige of Paris or Venice but I really think it's a great , beautiful city,

lyrics

The Rain was freezing
as Clery's clock struck ten
I used to meet you here
but things were different then

The wind blew through me
My coat clutched so tight
The sky was a moody shade of Gray
and you were nowhere in sight

Summer days long
memories, brief blue skies
can you tell me what time are you on?
and is Autumn our reprise

As I walk Grafton street
a dark and lonely sight
the only sound was my feet
Echoing through the night

But if I run fast enough
I can hear a whistle too
From the wind blowing through my chest
Through the hole left by you

Summer days gone
Memories, just a breeze
that make my eyes water
As I walk along the Quays

Down by the Grand Canal
where we used to stroll
But I feel so much older now
I think time has struck it's toll

Racing through old Rathmines
My heartstrings in a knot
Over the loss of my Valentine's love-
I've given her all I got

Some are days gone
some are days to come
but Clery's is now closing
and I guess that means we're done
